    Due to a retirement, Symbria is seeking a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to guide the ongoing development and implementation of Symbria’s human resource strategy for a population of 2200+ employees at multiple domestic locations. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CHRO is a trusted advisor, an active leadership team member, and key partner and coach to leaders at all levels. He/she is responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization, specifically in the areas of organization design and development, succession planning, talent acquisition, change management, performance management, employee engagement, training and development, compensation and benefits. The position supervises two directors and has a total HR team of 12 people. The CHRO emulates Symbria’s core values and culture of service while driving the evolution of strategic HR practices to achieve excellence.  

    Responsibilities

    • Operate as a visionary thinker with the ability to strategize and successfully implement HR initiatives and plans that effectively communicate and support the company’s mission and vision.
    • Function as a strategic business advisor to the executive/senior management team regarding key organizational and management issues; builds consensus around HR strategy and tactics.
    • Partner with Symbria’s CEO and the leadership team to establish a sound plan of management succession that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of the company. 
    • Act as a trusted advisor, coach, and consultant for the senior leaders to improve their leadership capability, team effectiveness, strategic insight, and business performance.
    • Lead organization structure design and development interventions to improve effectiveness of the organization.
    • Develop strategies and programs to build Symbria’s ownership culture, deepen leadership capability, employee engagement, diversity & inclusion and foster change to our culture to strengthen the employee value proposition.
    • Provide leadership to Symbria’s human resources department by building, motivating and retaining a strong, results-oriented and respected HR organization.
    • Lead M&A human resources activities including due diligence of target companies and development of integration plans with respect to benefit design and administration, talent management, organization structure, locations and other aspects of human resources activities related to acquisitions.
    • Develop policies and procedures that align with the business goals and perpetuate continuous improvement within the HR organization and beyond.
    • Responsible for internal control and risk factors related to HR policies and practices. Participates as member of Corporate Compliance Committee.
    • Interact with the Board of Directors and specifically the Compensation Committee of the Board, with respect to human resources and compensation practices.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.), Master’s degree preferred, from accredited institution.
    • 15 plus years of experience, OR, equivalent combination of education and experience leading an enterprise-wide human resource function.
    • High-level working knowledge of all areas of HR & business operations, with an emphasis on organizational design and development and building a culture of ownership.
    • Demonstrated executive coaching and leadership with a solid record of accomplishment of collaborating with senior management.
    • Strong business acumen to fully comprehend the corporate strategy and provide effective partnership to ensure its implementation.
    • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to serve as a credible leader.
    • Warm, collaborative leadership style with a professional presence and ability to interface effectively with diverse audiences, including the leadership team, management, staff and other internal and external stakeholders.
